Cinema Blend: Why Did I Get Married Too? Trailer Will Have You Screaming

What's wrong with catering to a particular audience? All the other movies made cater to a particular audience but are you complaining about the quality and speed that those movies are made. Its entertainment...its entertainment..its entertainment..not brain surgery...relax. There are more important things you could find fault with.

If it's unimportant, then why did you comment?

Yeah I agree!! Quit hating!!! There r finally movies out there about african americans going through life situtations and not just being backup or supporting cast they're leads. So no I am not mad at mad in fact I cheer him on and hope he keeps going because his movies gives more roles to african americans.

So I guess you've never seen a Will Smith movie or a Denzel Washington movie? Or a Samuel L. Jackson movie? Or a Wesley Snipes movie? Or a Martin Lawrence movie? Or a Halle Berry movie? Or a Wayans Brothers movie? Or one of Spike Lee's many movies? Yep, there just aren't any other movies with African Americans in leading roles. Thank god for Tyler Perry.

Thank you for that list (which I might point out you can count on your hands the number of leading black actors). Now can you please give me the ratio of 1) Black actors to white actors in major motion films and 2) the ratio of Non-minority actors to white actors in major motion films? So often African Americans are made to feel as if it is wrong to take pride in their culture in a mainstream setting (i.e. a major motion film starring a majority black cast). Assimilation and Equality are 2 completely different things. I wonder if a Bollywood director would get so much flack?

YOU ARE NAMING THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE I CAN NAME ON MY FINGERS. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY WHITE ACTORS ARE USUALLY IN MOVIES? THEIR ARE MORE WHITES THAN BLACKS, AND I'M GLAD TYLER IS LETTING AFRICAN AMERICANS BE REALLY SEEN AND HE'S NOT RACIST BECAUSE HE HAS HAD WHITE PEOPLE IN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS PLAYS YOU FOUND A WHITE PERSON SO DONT GO THERE WITH THE RACE CARD. HE HAS ALSO HAD WHITE PEOPLE IN HIS MOVIES IN WHY DID I GET MARRIED? THE FIRST ONE THEIR WERE MANY STUDENTS IN JANET JACKSONS CLASS WHO WERE WHITE AND THEIR WERE MORE CAUCATIONS WALKING AROUND THE CAMPUS AND THEIR WERE MORE AT THE STORE THE LADY WHO DISRESPECTED ANGIE BY SAYING "WE DON'T KEEP CASH IN THE STORE" SHE WAS WHITE. YOUR JUST MAD BECAUSE WHITE ACTORS ARE NEVER STARS IN HIS MOVIES BUT THEY ARE THERE.

^^Is black and a filmmaker himself.
I agree with you that there aren't many blacks in the spotlight these days besides your Will Smiths and Hale Berry's. It's good to see those like you accomplishing great things.

But too many black filmakers fall into that death spiral of type casting and greed. Which is obviously going on with Mr. Perry. (Least I THINK that's what Josh was getting at) Though I respect the man as a person, I can't say the same for his films. I just wish he'd get to be known as a great filmmaker, not just a "Black Filmmaker". But he's got a long way to go. He could easily break away and create the next big thing. Never know. But like all of civilization, we evolve, and so should his films.

No more black people in fats suits please. lol I think Eddie Murphy set us back a little.

I've never understood why Perry's films have to have all-black casts. Isn't that a little racist in itself? I mean, how about star black people... but, infuse a couple white people?

I feel you. "A Family That Preys" had Kathy Bates. That was a nice change of pace.
  • madameEtienne · 1 month ago
Did you not see The Family that Preys...Excellent movie and guess what...white people play leading roles.
  • Candice Mason · 1 month ago
Is that what mainstream does. I have seen many, many, many films that do not have one Black cast member in them? Is that o.k.? Could your opinion be a little one-sided? Are you saying that as long as a movie is all white it's ok, but if the movie is all Black, it's a problem?

Another day another bunch of rants because someone dared critisise Tyler Perry.

Audience reaction is the only thing more predictable than his movies.
  • lalabanks · 1 month ago
    never disappointed at all...=)
  • lalabanks · 1 month ago
The fact that you dont "get" why the core audience stays loyal and keeps packing them in is the MAIN reason why Mr Perry is such an asset to African American patrons in the movie industry...YOU may not particularly care for his films, but his fans do...what is so puzzling about that?..the numbers speak for themselves...OBVIOUSLY its what we want to see..not due to boredom or just eagerness...how insulting...

Exploitation? Not at all. Tyler Perry is doing what it takes to entertain "his" audience. Mainstream media entertains "their" audience. What's the difference? None!!
  • Truleeblessed · 1 month ago
I definitely feel as thought your are jealous of his success. He is a talented and blessed man. If he has a revelation to create something that targets a particular audience then so be it. But I would have you know that more that the African American race watches Tyler Perry shows and movies. I suggest you find another tree to bark up because in the end you and no one else can destroy what GOD has already destined. Have a great miserable life.

Our insatible appetite for comedy, drama, satire, horror, mystery, sci-fi, and the insanely weird is uncanny. Consequently the need for all types of movies is essential to feed our cravings (as they stay in inertia). Tyler Perry along with a host film makers like S. Spielbergs, S.Lee, C.Eastwood and W.Allen whet our appetites. Demcracy is excellent!
